Marketing Jobs Over $200K

Ft. ASML, EliseAI, ServiceNow, and Citi

The dust has settled, and, like it or not, the world’s top job is firmly in place.

While some are feeling moribund and others are popping champagne, there’s one reassuring bit of news: the job market for marketing pros appears steady and strong.

Over the past month alone, 1,972 senior marketing roles (directors & above) were added to the US job market. Since Wednesday, when the election result became clear, a further 297 new senior marketing jobs have popped up. Despite all the political drama, hiring activity doesn’t seem to have missed a beat. So far, things are looking somewhat optimistic.

As of this morning, there are 36,293 marketing jobs available across the U.S., directly from company career sites (not including job boards or staffing agencies). That’s a 9.2% increase compared to last year. Out of those, 4,296 are senior-level roles (director and up), which is a 4.7% bump from last year. Nearly half (49.2%) of those senior jobs now post salary details. The median pay for senior roles is $150,010, while the median across all marketing positions stands at $80,205.

Here’s a breakdown of median salaries by role:

  • SVP/Head of Marketing: $200,002

  • VP/Director of Marketing: $160,004

  • Marketing Manager: $115,107

  • Marketing Specialist: $72,644

Looking closer, there are some intriguing shifts. Over the last three months, the median salary for SVP/Head of Marketing roles has dipped from $205,161 in early August to $200,002 now. On the flip side, salaries for VP-level and Marketing Specialist roles have ticked up slightly by about $2-$3,000. Marketing Manager pay dipped in September to around $113,000 but has since bounced back to $115,107.

As we reported in our recent U.S. Marketing Jobs Report - Q3, 2024 we have noticed fewer SVP-level marketing roles. Companies are cutting senior management positions in the name of efficiency. Take Amazon, for example: in mid-September, the CEO announced a plan to increase the ratio of individual contributors vs. managers by over 15% by the end of Q1 2025. At Meta, median salaries across all roles have fallen from $189,280 in early June to $172,505 this week. This “year of efficiency” seems to be a theme across the board.

So, what does this all mean for job seekers? We’d love to hear your take!

Head of Global Sales & Marketing- HMI @ ASML

  • Posted: 12 days ago

  • Location: San Jose, CA

  • Compensation: $300,000 - $500,000

Reflecting on the past year in semiconductors feels like watching a modern gold rush—except the action happens in clean rooms and data centers, not dusty hills. And just like in any gold rush, there are the prospectors (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, a16z) seeking riches, and then there are those selling the shovels, like ASML —the ones who make the real, steady fortune.

OpenAI may have an outsized share of headlines, but behind every prospector is a toolmaker. That’s ASML—selling the "shovels" to all the major players.

This role is specific to HMI who, according to the CEO’s Linkedin Profile, sell “world-class e-beam inspection and metrology products,"

For our less engineering-minded readers – they are referring to the best tools available to find tiny flaws and measure ultra-small features in semiconductor manufacturing. These tools are essential for keeping up with the cutting-edge demands of modern chips, which are getting smaller, faster, and more complex every year.

If I am hiring for this role, I’d be tapping talent at Intel. They’re on the backfoot right now because of poor financial performance and technology delays and have some fantastic talent. I’d also be dialing top sales and marketing leaders at Hitachi, ABB and Siemens who are all growing at 10%+

We talked about the rise of “Dual Marketing Roles” in our last report, and, perhaps the combination of sales with marketing is the most obvious way to build total accountability. Regardless, according to our partners Draup, it’s quite common in the Industrials industry with around 300 people holding that title.

If you happen to be a candidate interviewing at ASML, take cues from their last 2-3 Earnings Call transcripts, which feature themes like preparing for future growth, support for customer profitability, and revenue growth in EUV.

Chief Marketing Officer @ EliseAI

  • Compensation: $325,000 - $400,000

Know Before They Post

A lot of companies take their CMO searches to firms like Taligence to ensure a targeted sweep, objective evaluation, and total confidentiality until they are ready for the press release announcing the hire.

Most CMO jobs don’t get posted on public job boards, and by the time they do, the competition is already fierce. Our premium subscribers have early access to a curated spreadsheet of hundreds of $200K+ marketing jobs, straight from career sites, updated bi-weekly. Be the first to know—just $9/month gives you the edge.

So, who are EliseAI?

EliseAI is an AI-driven property management platform that recently achieved a valuation of over $1 billion. The company offers AI solutions to streamline property management, including advanced conversational AI assistants and CRM tools. According to Draup, they have posted 275 jobs in the last 12 months, mostly in the US, and 113 of those jobs were in sales and marketing. Quite the rocket ship!

If I’m hiring for this role, I’d hunt talent working at fast-growing competition. EliseAI competes with other smaller players in the market like BetterBot, which provides similar AI-powered leasing and property management tools. I’d also tap talent from larger PropTech companies like Zillow and Redfin.

What’s the best way to differentiate in a crowded space? Hire a veteran CMO who can develop a clear and compelling brand identity and build an exceptional customer marketing strategy and team.

If you’re a candidate in the mix for this role, emphasize prior experiences in high-growth, VC-backed scale-ups. Headcount overall grew 67% in the past year.

VP, Talent Brand Marketing @ ServiceNow

  • Posted: 1 week ago

  • Location: Remote

  • Compensation: $248,100 - $421,900

As a former Talent Brand Corpo, It warms my heart to see a Talent Brand focused role paying almost half a milly!

If you don’t know ServiceNow, they have built a phenomenal business - 5,000 individuals across 78 locations worldwide, and a market cap of $174bn. Not bad for a company who were just an idea back in 2004!

Former Red Bull Racing Driver Colin Fleming is the CMO who joined from Salesforce in May 2024 as reported here on the CMO Ladder. He frequently posts about the importance of building a great marketing culture – so if you are in the loop for this job, be sure to nod to how you lift up your team and inspire them to be bold.

If I were given the assignment to fill this role, it would be strategic to target professionals from large-scale companies known for their exceptional workplace cultures and robust partner ecosystems. So, Salesforce, WPP, and Adobe (the Chief People Officer, Jacqui Canney is ex-WPP) Companies who have had a comparable growth trajectory to ServiceNow include Atlassian and Workday, so I’d be looking for talent working there as well.

Can Brand Marketing talent who haven’t worked closely with HR and Talent Acquisition Teams or “owned” Employer Branding do this job? Of course! But EVP communications is an established specialist area. Per Draup, there are at least 1800 people with existing titles related to this position.

If you’re in the hiring loop for this role without the hardcore employer branding experience, we recommend that you draw parallels between customer and employee journeys. Leverage emotional drivers and engagement tactics used in consumer campaigns to attract talent. Address the gap upfront but emphasize what you DO have. Cross-functional collaboration skills, audience segmentation and development, and defining & measuring campaign impacts. This directly aligns with employer brand metrics like engagement rates or eNPS.

Head of Media Planning and Buying (Director) @ Citi

  • Posted: 5 days ago

  • Location: New York, NY

  • Compensation: $170,000 - $300,000

We haven’t seen enough roles like this in 2024! Taligence were expecting a rush of hiring in-house, as companies scale back agency relationships and harness the magic of AI to streamline and optimize media investments by themselves.

Although client-side jobs in media grew well overall at 20% y-o-y, there were too few senior openings in planning, investment, etc.

This role looks like it would report into Mike Venebles who left Omnicom’s Hearts & Science in 2021 to take the lead media role @ Citi. We can’t help but wonder whether the role was put on ice, or whether someone came and went, but the post was live on Mike’s Linkedin 6 months ago..

The salary seems a little low to us. For 10yrs+ of managerial experience and 15+ in planning, an agency would likely pay more. We’re actively hiring for NY-based talent with this exact background at a much higher compensation. Contact me directly to hear more.

If we had this search assignment, we’d poach agency talent who had experience on JPMorgan, an account that has sat with EssenceMediacom, or from Dentsu who do the media heavy lifting for Goldman Sachs. JPMorgan have had a stellar couple of years in terms of business performance and are building a retail media network, per Forbes.
