Marketing Jobs Over $200K
Ft. Crunchyroll, Rosetta Stone, REP Fitness, Duolingo, Planet, and Millennium Space Systems

As of this morning, 37,047 marketing jobs are up for grabs in the U.S.—that’s a 9.6% year-on-year jump. At the senior level (Director and above), we’re seeing 4,504 openings, marking an even juicier 15.6% increase YOY.

Our standard for fresh job listings is high, and this week? It’s been a treasure hunt. But what stood out more than shiny new roles was the alarming number of companies failing to fill key marketing leadership positions.
So, before we unveil the latest top-tier openings, let’s take a moment to name and shame the worst offenders.
Employer | Job | Days Listed |
Amazon | 281 | |
Hearst | iCrossing | 258 | |
Revlon | 239 | |
Qualcomm | 239 | |
Chegg | 195 | |
University of Miami | 180
Airwallex | 179 | |
Apollo | 173 | |
CommonSpirit Health | 160
Upcodes | 151 | |
T-Mobile | 133 | |
The Wonder Project | 120 | |
DISH | 110 | |
Scopely | 106 |
Let’s put this into perspective. You know what usually takes 100+ days?
Building a house from scratch
Training for a marathon
Learning a new language at a basic level of fluency
Hiring a marketing leader should NOT be on that list.
In 2024, we found that the average time to fill a marketing job—aka “posting lifetime”—was just 28 days. So why are these roles gathering cobwebs? Are these companies just painfully slow, fishing for candidates they’ll never hire, or struggling to find the right talent?
We’ve got questions. No answers - yet.
Want us to keep tracking these eternal job listings? Let us know. Who knows, one of these might turn out to be your golden opportunity… if they ever actually hire someone.
OK, back to our normal programming. Kicking off with...
Vice President, Regional Marketing @ Crunchyroll
Posted: 1 week ago
Location: New York, NY
Compensation: $231,000 - $289,000
Crunchyroll was founded in 2006 by a group of Berkeley grads as a totally unlicensed anime streaming platform. Over time, they went legit, partnering with Japanese studios and becoming one of the biggest legal anime distributors in the world.
Growth has been at a steady forward march. In the last 2 years, their employee headcount increased by 28% to a population of almost 2000 people, of which 1400 are in the US.
And that’s impressive because we all know what happens when big companies swoop in to buy cute little ones. Crunchyroll was acquired by Sony in 2021 for $1.175 billion, merging it with Funimation to create an anime streaming powerhouse (longtime fans still debate whether this was a power-up or a nerf).
Gita Rebbapragada was appointed as Crunchyroll's Chief Operating Officer in September 2023 after serving as Chief Marketing Officer.
If Taligence were retained for this assignment to fill the regional VP role – I would be poaching talent from other companies with a passionate fanbase. Riot Games, Capcom, Lego, Niantic, and Tik-Tok to name a few. IPG’s UM used to do their media planning out of LA, so that might be a good place to source talent, especially given the upcoming merger.
What should you highlight if you are in a hiring process for this one? Listening skills. Gita believes that being a good listener enhances leadership effectiveness and helps in understanding and connecting with audiences. So, focus on how you have been an advocate for the voice of the customer in prior roles, and applied experience-enhancing strategies to delight them. And aim for a long career arc. Crunchyroll has an internal tradition where employees who’ve been with the company for 10 years get a signature orange Crunchyroll varsity jacket. It’s a coveted badge of honor among staff and fans alike.
If you do go for this one, then 頑張って! (Ganbatte!) – "Do your best!"
Marketing Director @ Rosetta Stone
Posted: 5 days ago
Location: San Mateo, CA
Compensation: $200,000 - $250,000 base
I admit to being a fan of this company and product. Best Brand Voice, hands down. I got to a basic level of Chinese that enabled me to order dumplings like a pro, accidentally tell a taxi driver I love him and nod along in conversations while secretly hoping they don’t ask me a follow-up question.
Rosetta Stone was founded in 1992 by Allen Stoltzfus, who struggled to learn Russian through traditional methods. Frustrated, he envisioned a more immersive, intuitive way to learn—leading to the birth of Rosetta Stone.
Rosetta Stone has been widely used by the U.S. military, intelligence agencies, and even NASA to help personnel quickly learn mission-critical languages. If it’s good enough for spies and astronauts, it’s probably good enough for your next vacation to France. In 2021, they were bought by IXL Learning, a company best known for children’s educational software. There’s no CMO, but Jessica Lee, Vice President of Marketing, oversees various aspects of marketing, including brand development, product marketing, content creation, field marketing, public relations, and events.
IXL Learning has 5000 employees, while Rosetta has just 240. There are about a dozen people in the marketing team including a couple specializing in influencer marketing.
If Taligence had been paid to find the perfect candidate for this role, I’d check again at Riot Games who bring deep fandom and community-driven engagement. Marketing talents at Headspace excel at habit formation, making learning feel rewarding and Grammarly’s marketing team knows how to transform a simple tool into an essential AI-powered subscription.
If you’re a candidate for the role, you’ll be able to bond with Jessica over pupper stories. She’s a sometime Dog helper at the San Francisco SPCA. You should also take a cue from the JD and note any work assignments or periods of living overseas and learning new languages.
From linguistic fitness, we are moving now to a truly heavyweight marketing opening out of Colorado...
VP of Marketing, Nutrition @ REP Fitness
Posted: 1 week ago
Location: Westminster, CO
Compensation: $200,000 - $225,000
In 2012, brothers Ryan and Shane McGrotty combined their passion for fitness and expertise in internet marketing to establish REP Fitness. Starting in a modest 1,200-square-foot garage in Colorado, they focused on offering high-quality gym equipment at fair prices. Over the years, REP Fitness has expanded a lot, now operating in multiple countries with over 150 employees.
This VP of Marketing - Nutrition role stood out to us for its blend of fitness culture, scientific credibility, and brand building. Unlike typical VP roles, it requires expertise in nutrition science, influencer partnerships, and regulatory accuracy alongside consumer marketing.
Unusually, it starts without direct reports, meaning the hire must be both a strategist and a hands-on executor. With Rep expanding into supplements and lifestyle branding, this is a rare chance to shape a category-leading nutrition brand within a powerhouse fitness company.
If Taligence were to tackle this important talent search, I’d look beyond the typical CPG nutrition brands (e.g., GNC, Optimum Nutrition) and sports supplement companies (e.g., Redcon1, Ghost) to a pool of marketing talents that offer unique expertise in brand storytelling, habit formation, and high-engagement consumer marketing. I’d look at G-Fuel, who have the YouTube influencer game solved, and science-forward DTC Beauty Brands like Drunk Elephant and Huel, who created a cult-like following for meal replacements.
And just like the other companies we’ve covered today, the critical piece to get across if you’re in a hiring process is listening to the customer, and of course, it won’t hurt if you have a shared passion for strength training and fitness.
Director of Marketing, Duolingo English Test
Posted: 1 week ago
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Compensation: $188,000 - $342,000
Duolingo has been featured before in our newsletter for the wrong reasons! We love the company, but their habit of leaving senior job listings turns us off. This role is a week old but we saw postings for product marketing and corporate marketing pass the 200-day listing lifespan mark in the past. So, our advice to you if you’re being considered is that you need to be incredibly convincing and close the deal or be prepared for a very, very long wait.
We hope they tighten up their hiring processes for this one because it looks like a great job. The simple JD calls for experience in leading a team across all dimensions of marketing and giving a nod to a preference for a candidate who has spent time overseas and/or speaks another language for maximum customer empathy.
Since August 2023, Emmanuel "Manu" Orssaud has served as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Duolingo. He joined the company in September 2020, initially focusing on brand-building across international markets. Before his tenure at Duolingo, Orssaud held big roles at Spotify, where he led global marketing strategy, and at Sony PlayStation, where he developed the digital marketing function across EMEA.
Which ad stood out to you last weekend at the Super Bowl? (For us, it was Rocket, a case study in participation) As for Duolingo? They’ve swerved the $7 million TV slot in favor of a far cheekier, multi-screen social takeover.
Last year, they gave us "Buttception" (yes, really) in a five-second blink-and-you-miss-it ad. This time? They’ve gone rogue—translating sentences, trolling Drake, handing out music lessons, and even dabbling in… dying? Bold move. A textbook example of how to hijack the Super Bowl conversation without forking out for a traditional TV spot.
If you’re a candidate in a hiring process, talk about moments of magic in your career where you’ve created entertaining, unexpected moments that generate buzz. Bonus points if you have done any avatar or personality-based marketing, brought to life across established and experimental platforms.
Director of Marketing & Communications @ Millennium Space Systems
Posted: 1 week ago
Location:· El Segundo, CA
Compensation: $177,650 - $261,250
We’ve already given a nod to Rocket’s phenomenal Super Bowl sing-a-long, but what about real rockets? This year is shaping up to be a great one for rocket-related investments, like $ASTS, which is up 30% ytd.
But what if you want to put some jet fuel into your marketing career? This might be just the space station to hang your space helmet.
Established in 2001, Millennium Space Systems has rapidly evolved into a leading provider of high-performance small satellites catering to national security space missions. Just like Amazon, they have tight vertical integration – enabling independent, rapid design and production of small satellite systems.
Not only that, but GenX readers will surely appreciate that they are building missile defense systems under the program name: FOO Fighter
So, what’s the deal? Do you need a PHD to be a marketer here?
Well, not quite, but this is a role where you would need security clearance and relevant aerospace experience, as well as great skills in brand and reputation building and experiential event marketing. If I were hiring for the role, I’d tap talent from SpaceX, who must surely be sick and tired of seeing their boss occupy headlines for his continual, earthly PR missteps.
Sticking with the space theme, up next, we have:
SVP of Marketing @ Planet
Posted: 2 weeks ago
Location: San Francisco, CA
Compensation: $231,500 - $289,400
Posted 2 weeks ago, but we think the job post was refreshed one week ago indicating a sense of urgency. So who are Planet?
In 2010, former NASA scientists Will Marshall, Robbie Schingler, and Chris Boshuizen founded Planet Labs to revolutionize Earth observation. Frustrated with costly, bulky satellites, they developed compact, mass-producible CubeSats. Starting in a garage, they launched their first two, Dove 1 and Dove 2, in 2013, proving their vision.
After successfully deploying these satellites, Planet Labs expanded their capabilities through strategic acquisitions. In 2015, they acquired BlackBridge and its RapidEye constellation, enhancing their imaging capacity. In 2017, they further bolstered their resources by acquiring Terra Bella and its SkySat satellite constellation from Google. These moves allowed Planet to offer a diverse range of satellite data services to various sectors, including agriculture, environmental monitoring, and urban planning.
If Taligence were hiring for this role, I’d be hunting out talent at GIS & Remote Sensing companies like ESRI, Information Aggregators like Bloomberg and Reuters, and places like Tesla Energy, Ørsted, Climeworks, or CarbonCure who understand how to monetize mission-driven technology with a global impact.
If you are a candidate being considered or in a hiring process, emphasize your strong storytelling, which can transform Planet’s mission and data-driven insights into compelling, multi-channel marketing efforts.
Highlight any experience marketing complex, intangible products and possess the ability to position satellite data as an essential investment for enterprises and governments. Beyond traditional SaaS and B2B marketing, the right leader should have a track record of monetizing alternative data, forging ecosystem partnerships, and shaping industry thought leadership. Not too much to ask, is it? 😊
Hot off the press: Marriott’s SVP, Global Marketing gig is back on the market!
This role was first posted in November, then mysteriously vanished—only to reappear last week. What happened? Well, Brian Povinelli, who previously held the role, made the move to Planet Fitness as CMO last month. It seems Marriott may have hired someone new… only for it not to work out. Classic case of a marketing match gone wrong? Possibly. Don’t quote us on this!
Here’s the juicy bit: the salary range is a rather delightful $337,535 to $456,665, plus an enviable stack of benefits. If you fancy a top-tier global marketing role with one of the biggest names in hospitality, this one’s absolutely worth a look.
